Each year, Smokey House depends upon the generosity of its friends and neighbors to help sustain both our land and our educational programming.  There are many ways in which you can contribute to the success of our work, from supporting our annual fund to buying our products, from attending an Open House to affirm the work of our youth to signing up as a WWOOFer.  Your financial gift to Smokey House is tax deductible, and is deeply appreciated by the young people and staff who work and learn here.

Some ways to contribute:

Donate Online. You can send a gift right now using a major credit card. You do not need a paypal account to give online.

Donate to the annual fund.  Each year in the fall, Smokey House sends an appeal to its broadest community for contributions to our annual fund.  These gifts are used for operating expenses, and help pay for the less flashy but nonetheless vital needs like electricity, tractor loan repayment, and facility repair and maintenance.

Donate to the Summer Field Studies Scholarship Program. Each summer, Smokey House reaches out to middle school-aged youth whose parents cannot provide learning-rich summer activities for their children.  Our Environmental Field Studies Summer Program offers both fun and learning as students spend three weeks carrying out environmental research on our 5,000 acres of field and forest.  This program is open to youth regardless of their ability to pay because of the generosity of Field Studies sponsors, whose $500 donations help support one child’s summer enrichment experience.

Donate to our Endowment.  Building upon the initial endowment funds provided by Taconic Foundation, Smokey House continues to seek donations to its endowment to guarantee on-going support for its educational programs and for the continued preservation of the working landscape.

Smokey House accepts charitable gifts through cash/check, credit card (Visa/Mastercard), stock transfers, multi-year pledges, and a matching gifts program.

Make an in-kind contribution.  Many friends of Smokey House are creative in their support.  We have received donations of professional services, computers, furnishings, equipment and food, among others.  We keep an on-going Wish List of items that are of particular interest to us.
